A tanned complexion without the sun: our home-made tricks

Not very sunny days, no desire to take risks by exposing oneself to the sun… To have a nice tanned complexion without going sunbathing, we have some little tricks!

In summer, we are all looking forward to seeing our gambettes change colour and get a tanned complexion! However, it is not healthy to expose yourself too much to the sun. Responsible for all kinds of skin diseases and premature skin ageing, the sun is not really a friend to our epidermis. So how do you get that tanned complexion you’ve been dreaming of, but without the sun and in a natural way?

The sun is not our friend!

Not so long ago, it was still normal to be grilled in the sun for several hours at a time, without protection, or worse, with monoi oil to speed up the process. Today, we are more sensitive to the negative consequences of excessive exposure to UV rays. Sunscreens are an integral part of our beach trousseau. The sun is responsible :

Premature ageing of our skin cells;
the appearance of brown spots;
certain skin diseases (cancer…).
The good news? You don’t have to give up a tanned complexion for all that!

Beta carotene

Strongly present in carrots, beta-carotene is a vegetable pigment that is a precursor of vitamin A. It illuminates the complexion and helps to replenish vitamins. It therefore helps to prepare the skin for the sun and accelerates tanning. The best option is still to make juice, so you’re guaranteed to consume enough to see the effects on your skin and complexion.

If carrots are the first food you think of when you think of beta-carotene, it’s not the only one:

apricot;
sweet potato;
spinach;
red pepper;
goji berries; etc…
So remember to include them in all your meals, or even make yourself mixed vegetable juices to be ingested morning and evening!

A tanning mask for the face

Mix a carrot with a natural organic yoghurt or a few tablespoons of olive oil and apply the mixture all over your face and neck. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly with clear water. Remember to protect your clothes because carrot, if it dyes your skin, will also stain fabrics!

You can also mix a few drops of carrot oil with your day cream for a slightly tanned complexion.

A natural tanning lotion

When you want to have a tanned complexion without the sun, you can always apply a self-tanner. However, it is not always easy to be certain of the composition of the products available on the market. So why not make your own natural tanning lotion? Because it’s natural, it won’t leave a trace!

The ingredients :

Coffee beans;
Cinnamon;
Coconut oil
Beeswax
Heat and infuse in a saucepan over low heat. Then strain the mixture through a sieve and return it to the pan, adding the beeswax and melting it. Mix well with a whisk and let it cool before applying it to your skin with a washcloth or reusable wipe.

You can also mix cocoa powder into your body cream!

A powder for a tanning complexion

If you would especially like your face to be tanned, you can make your own foundation powder. To do so, you will need :

cornstarch;
cinnamon;
cocoa powder.
Adjust the amounts according to your skin colour and the desired effect on your complexion. Mix and apply to the face!

Tanned and protected skin!

Now you have all the information you need to concoct a tanned skin all summer long without exposing yourself to the sun. And you also have a considerable advantage with this kind of natural recipe: no more tan lines!
