Do It Your self purifying and anti-pollution face mask: our 5 home recipes!

Our skin is constantly exposed to pollution and this is even more the case if you live in a big city. It is therefore important to take care of it because pollution can cause unsightly pimples or premature aging of the skin. Here are our tips to take care of your skin and purify it by making your own purifying and anti-pollution mask at home!

The clarifying cucumber and yoghurt mask

If you have a blurred complexion and are looking to bring some light back to this skin tired from the pollution it suffers from every day, this natural mask is perfect for you. The cucumber is a vegetable gorged with water, known and recognized for its moisturizing, cleansing and astringent properties. Yoghurt also has a strong moisturizing power and its lactic acid has an exfoliating power.

  • ½ cucumber, preferably organic,
  • 1 yoghurt, also organic.

Cut your half cucumber into coarse pieces and mix it with the yogurt. It’s as simple as that! Then apply the mixture to your face, taking care to avoid the eye area, and leave on for 15 minutes.

Tip: If you have eyes that are a little tired, dark circles or congested, apply a cucumber slice to each of your eyelids while the mask works.

The detoxifying mask with white clay and grapefruit

The citric acid contained in grapefruit acts as a natural exfoliant and removes dead skin cells. Clay has been used in many cultures around the world for decades. Known for its purifying power, white clay gently removes impurities and purifies your skin. Be careful to use glass or wooden utensils for this DIY, as clay loses its properties in contact with metal.

  • ½ yoghurt,
  • the juice of ½ lemon,
  • 1 tablespoon of white clay.

The recipe

Mix in a glass or wooden container until the mixture has a pasty consistency. Then apply the mixture to your face, avoiding the eye area, and leave on for about 20 minutes, then rinse off with clear water.

The purifying lemon and apple mask

Little used in home beauty care, the apple has a strong exfoliating power because it is rich in fruit acids. Combined with the cleansing properties of lemon, it is ideal for gently cleansing polluted skin.

  • ¼ of apple,
  • A few drops of lemon juice.

Peel and grate your quarter apple, add a few drops of lemon juice and mix. Then apply the mixture to the skin of your face, always taking care to avoid the eye area. Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes before removing it and rinsing your skin with clear water.

Tip: For a well firmed skin after your mask, remember to run your face under very cold water just after rinsing.

The purifying mask with hazelnut oil and clay

Clay is a bit the basic ingredient when we try to make our own detox cosmetics. This time, we will use green clay and its exfoliating properties which will be perfect to cleanse the pores of a city girl’s skin. Healing, purifying, scrubbing… Clay has not finished finding its place in the closet of our bathroom!

  • 2 tablespoons of green clay,
  • 1 teaspoon of hazelnut oil,
  • 2 tablespoons of mineral (or filtered) water.

Simply mix all the ingredients together until you get a smooth, lump-free dough. Then apply the mixture in a thick layer all over your face, avoiding the eye and lip area. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes.

Tip: If the clay dries too quickly, remember to moisten it with a mister!

The purifying mask with nutmeg and Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is everywhere these last years! In our living room in the form of a plant and in many cosmetics, especially homemade, as far as its gel is concerned. Strongly hydrating, it is an exceptional repairing agent, for example, on your sunburns. The nutmeg as for it, has anti-inflammatory properties that will soothe and heal your tired skin.

  • 1 tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel,
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg powder,
  • a few drops of lemon juice.

Mix it all together, apply and leave on for about 20 minutes before rinsing with clear water.

Take care of your skin exposed to daily pollution.

The natural purifying mask is only one of the elements of a routine that must be adapted to a skin that suffers from daily pollution. So think of setting up a daily routine to help your skin fight against these external aggressions:

  • Take care of your skin from the inside: eat lots of fruit and vegetables, drink at least 1 liter of water a day and avoid industrial food,
  • Cleanse your skin: never skip make-up removal, this will prevent the day’s pollution from clogging your pores,
  • Moisturize and protect your skin: apply morning and evening, after each skin cleansing, a moisturizing cream adapted to your skin type,
  • Purify your skin: finally, think about applying a purifying mask once or twice a week, choosing the recipe of your choice!
