Every autumn we lose more hair than usual. This can be due to temperature changes, hormones and summer holidays.
The scalp has been subjected to the heat, the sun, the sea water, the chlorine from the swimming pool, and sometimes daily shampoos… and the consequences are visible two to three months later, in autumn.
This hair loss can last for 6 to 8 weeks, after which you should consult a dermatologist. But simple gestures, before and during the fall, can reduce it. Here are a few tips to reduce hair loss in the fall.
Beforehand, a good diet can prevent hair loss by
As explained previously, what our hair goes through is visible three months later, so we need to adopt the right gestures as early as the summer or even a few weeks before. We must have, or keep, a good diet by favouring sources of protein and iron such as meat or legumes (lentils, beans…). The latter can be eaten in salads, perfect for hot days!
Also increase your intake of sulphur thanks to onions, oleaginous fruits (nuts, almonds, hazelnuts…), as well as prawns and chicken.
Finally, to prevent hair loss as much as possible, you can take food supplements, such as brewer’s yeast, 3 months before autumn. The offer in pharmacies and parapharmacies is very large, prefer B vitamin supplements. You can also take these supplements during the period of hair loss to strengthen your hair.
During hair loss
Do you notice that a lot of hair falls out during shampooing or brushing? Don’t panic, it’s not because of the shampoo that your hair falls out. It’s already dead, shampooing and brushing simply removes it. No need to wash your hair too often, which would leave an excess of sebum and dust, which would make it fall out even more. So keep your usual shampooing and brushing frequency.
Before shampooing, gently detangle your hair with a suitable brush. After washing, avoid the strong heat of the hair dryer, prefer a towel-dry by wrapping your hair in it and exerting light pressure. Don’t rub it too hard or it will break. For styling, avoid tightly fitting buns or ponytails and avoid using brushes or straightening irons.
Oxygenate the scalp. To do this, massage the scalp regularly and gently with your fingertips. This promotes blood circulation and accelerates hair regrowth. Massage brushes for the head can be found in pharmacies. Good for the scalp, it will also relax you!
In fact, stress accelerates hair loss, which leads to a vicious circle. This only lasts a few weeks and is a normal consequence of the change of season. You can do sports to relax and de-stress, it’s good for your health and it will also have a positive impact on your hair!
